Vintage Cannondale – Serial Numbers. The serial number is the key to finding out what year cannondale you have. 56 = Frame Size. 020588 = Production Date.
Most models of Cannondale bicycles have the serial number located at the very bottom of the frame, underneath the bottom bracket -- the part of the bicycle where the cranks turn. You've found the serial number if it's printed underneath a bar code on a rectangular, white sticker.
Older and Vintage Models
- Someone purchased the bike on Craigslist and looked up the serial number on the Bike Index and was able to return it to me! Ryan Bike recovered 7.14.2018.
- FRAME NUMBER BICYCLE DATING GUIDE. HOW OLD IS MY BICYCLE? I started to collate frame numbers from 1890s-1920 Triumph bicycles, and will update it as I go along.
Cannondale Frame Warranty
Most older Cannondales also have the serial number located at the very bottom of the frame. Some, such as all the Ravens made from 1998 to 2001, have the serial number placed on the upper, rearward-facing portion of the seat mast, in front of the seat post. It may also be on the seat stay or chain stay. On older bikes, the serial number gives you a clue as to the year of your bike, which you can then use to determine what model you have by cross referencing with the appropriate catalog.
